Terms & Conditions
Effective date: 4 September 2026
These Terms & Conditions explain how you may use the Women Who Build website and related online services operated by Women Who Build Co.
Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, you should not use this website.
1. About Women Who Build
Women Who Build is a platform focused on recognizing, celebrating and connecting women shaping construction, trades, design, engineering, development, technology, operations, education and the wider built environment.
This website is used to share information about Women Who Build, the 2027 calendar, opportunities to be featured or nominated, sponsorship and partnership, the Cover Competition, media, and related programmes.
Women Who Build Co. is the operator of this website. These Terms refer to “Women Who Build”, “we”, “us” and “our” as Women Who Build Co., and to “you” as a visitor or user of the website.
2. Acceptance of these Terms
By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms and to any additional terms that apply to a particular feature, form, competition or purchase.
If a separate official document applies — such as Competition Rules, a Media Release, Guardian Consent, the Privacy Policy, a Shipping & Returns Policy or a Preorder Policy — that document also applies to the relevant activity.
3. Use of the website
You may use this website for lawful personal, informational and organisational purposes connected with Women Who Build.
You agree to use the website in a way that does not interfere with its operation, other users, or the rights of Women Who Build or any other person.
We may update, suspend or withdraw any part of the website from time to time, including for maintenance, improvement or legal reasons.
4. Eligibility to use interactive website features
Anyone may browse public pages of the website.
To submit a form, application, nomination, enquiry or competition entry, you must provide accurate contact information and have the legal capacity to make that submission.
Some activities, including the Cover Competition, may permit participation by people under 18 where a parent or guardian provides required consent. Where that applies, the relevant form and Competition Rules explain what is required.
We may refuse, pause or remove a submission if we reasonably believe it is incomplete, misleading, unlawful, submitted without authority, or otherwise unsuitable.
5. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the website design, layout, branding, text, photographs, graphics, logos and other materials on this website are owned by or licensed to Women Who Build Co. and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
You may view and share pages of this website for personal or informational purposes, including by linking to a public page. You may not copy, scrape, republish, sell or commercially exploit website content without permission, except where the law expressly allows it.
If you submit original work, such as a competition design or photographs, you keep any copyright you own in that work, except to the extent a separate Competition Rule, Media Release or other permission says otherwise.
6. Women Who Build branding, photographs, graphics and written content
The Women Who Build name, wordmark and related brand materials identify the platform. They may not be used in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership or authorship unless Women Who Build has agreed to that use.
Photographs, graphics, stories and other editorial content on this website are provided to recognize the women and work they depict. They should not be cropped, altered, reused in advertising, or presented as your own work without permission.
Featured-person photographs and stories may also be subject to a Media Release or other permission given by the person concerned.
7. User submissions and information submitted through forms
The website may include forms for applications, nominations, sponsorship or partnership enquiries, competition entries, contact messages and similar submissions.
By submitting a form, you confirm that you are authorised to provide the information and materials included, and that the submission does not infringe another person’s rights or any law.
How we handle personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
Submitting a form does not create a contract to publish, feature, sponsor, partner, or accept an entry, unless a separate written confirmation says so.
8. Be Featured / nomination submissions
Women Who Build may invite applications and nominations through the Be Featured page and related forms.
An application or nomination is a request to be considered. It is not a guarantee of selection, publication or inclusion in the calendar or any other programme.
If you nominate another person, you should provide only information reasonably needed for that nomination. A nomination does not by itself authorise Women Who Build to publish the nominee’s name, photograph, biography or story.
Where a person is selected for further consideration, Women Who Build may contact them to obtain additional information and appropriate permission before any public feature.
9. Accuracy of information submitted by users
You are responsible for the accuracy of information you submit.
If your details change after you submit a form, you may contact us using the email address below so we can update our records where reasonably practicable.
We may rely on the information you provide when reviewing a submission, communicating with you, or administering a programme. We are not obliged to verify every statement before considering a submission.
10. Prohibited use of the website
You must not:
- use the website in any unlawful way
- submit false, misleading, defamatory, hateful or abusive content
- submit another person’s personal information without a reasonable basis for doing so
- upload malware, attempt to gain unauthorised access, or interfere with the website’s security or availability
- scrape, harvest or bulk-collect content or personal information from the website
- use the website to send spam or unsolicited marketing
- impersonate Women Who Build, a featured person, or any other person or organisation
We may block access, remove content or refuse a submission where we reasonably consider these rules have been broken.
11. Sponsorship and partnership enquiries
Sponsorship and partnership enquiries submitted through the Sponsor & Partner page or related forms are expressions of interest only.
An enquiry does not create a sponsorship, partnership or advertising agreement. Any commercial relationship will be set out in a separate confirmation or agreement if both parties choose to proceed.
We may decline an enquiry or end discussions at any time before a separate agreement is in place.
12. Calendar and featured-person content
Information about the Women Who Build calendar, including expected timing, is described on The Calendar and related pages. Dates, featured people and programme details may change as the project develops.
Featured-person stories, photographs and quotations are published only where appropriate permission has been obtained. They are editorial in nature and should not be treated as an endorsement of any third-party product, employer or service unless that is clearly stated.
Inclusion in the calendar, website or related campaigns is at Women Who Build’s discretion and is not a paid placement unless a separate sponsorship or partnership arrangement says otherwise.
13. Cover Competition
The Cover Competition is described on the Cover Competition page. Any competition run by Women Who Build is also governed by its separate official Competition Rules.
If there is a conflict between these Terms and the official Competition Rules on a matter relating to the competition, the official Competition Rules control.
Submitting an entry does not guarantee a prize, publication or selection. Entries from people under 18 may require parent or guardian consent as described in the Competition Rules and related consent materials.
14. Shop, merchandise, calendars and preorders
Shop, merchandise and calendar-purchase information, where offered, will be described on the Shop page and at checkout.
Payment and ecommerce services are not currently active on this website. When they are, the terms shown at the point of purchase will apply to that transaction.
Delivery, returns and preorder arrangements are not published yet because the Shop is not open. When those policies are available, they — not these Terms — will set out any shipping, return or preorder details.
These Terms do not create product guarantees, delivery dates, stock commitments or shipping promises.
15. Pricing and availability
Any prices, product details or availability information displayed on the website are shown for information at the time of publication and may change.
We do not guarantee that a product, calendar edition or related item will remain available, or that a displayed price will remain unchanged, until a purchase is completed under the terms then in force.
Nothing on this website is an offer capable of acceptance until checkout or another confirmed purchase process is active and completed.
16. Third-party websites and external links
This website may contain links to websites, platforms or services operated by other organisations, including social media.
Those links are provided for convenience. Women Who Build does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, security or terms. Your use of a third-party site is subject to that site’s own terms and policies.
17. Social media and embedded content
Women Who Build may use social-media accounts and may, from time to time, embed or link to content hosted by third parties.
Embedded or linked third-party content may use cookies, tracking or other technologies outside Women Who Build’s direct control. Those services have their own terms and privacy information.
Comments or materials you post on a third-party platform are governed by that platform, not by these Terms, except where they also affect Women Who Build’s rights or reputation.
18. Privacy
Personal information collected through this website is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
These Terms do not limit privacy rights that apply to you under applicable law.
19. Accessibility
Women Who Build’s approach to digital accessibility is described in our Accessibility statement.
If you encounter a barrier while using this website, please contact us so we can try to help.
20. Website availability and changes
We aim to keep the website available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.
We may change website content, features, forms or these Terms as the platform develops. Where a change is material, we will update the effective date on this page.
Continued use of the website after an update means you accept the revised Terms, except where a separate agreement or a right that cannot be changed by website terms applies.
21. Disclaimer
Website content is provided for general information about Women Who Build and related programmes. It is not professional, legal, financial or employment advice.
We take reasonable care with the information we publish, but we do not warrant that all content is complete, current or free from error at every moment.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded or limited.
22. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Women Who Build is not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, or for loss caused by your use of the website in a way these Terms do not allow.
If you use the website as a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects mandatory consumer or statutory rights that cannot be limited or excluded.
If you use the website in the course of a business, then to the extent permitted by law our liability arising out of or in connection with the website is limited to the amount you have paid us, if any, for the specific website service giving rise to the claim in the 12 months before the claim.
23. Indemnity
If you submit information or materials, or use the website, in a way that is unlawful or that you were not authorised to do, you agree to be responsible for reasonable losses, costs and claims that directly result from that conduct, to the extent permitted by law.
This does not require you to cover loss caused by Women Who Build’s own negligence, fraud, or breach of these Terms, and it does not affect rights that cannot be waived.
24. Severability
If a court or competent authority finds any part of these Terms unenforceable, the remaining parts continue to apply.
25. No waiver
If we do not enforce a part of these Terms on one occasion, that does not mean we waive the right to enforce it later.
26. Changes to these Terms
Women Who Build may update these Terms as the website, programmes or legal requirements change.
When material updates are made, the effective date shown at the top of this page should be updated. We encourage visitors to review this page periodically.
These Terms do not currently name a specific governing-law jurisdiction because that information has not been established in the project files. Any mandatory local law that applies to you continues to apply. A governing-law clause can be added here once confirmed.
